Amish Acres Arts Festival has concluded for another year. Exhibitors from some 30 states and visitors from all around were in town the past few days to enjoy the Arts Festival. We noted the traffic backup was not as heavy this year, perhaps due to rainy weather and higher gas prices. Nevertheless, we experienced nice numbers during our visit to the festival on Saturday ... between the rains.
Speaking of rain ... it was not only the exhibitor tents dodging the rain drops. The Fudge and Ice Cream Shop had its share of roof leaks as well. I'm sure the maintenance crew will be quick to care for these leaks now that the festival is over and live gets back to normal (whatever that is.)
Rain on Saturday morning diverted some festival-goers to Borkholders Dutch Village for some indoor shopping among the antiques and small shops. We noted a larger crowd than normal for a Saturday morning. Most all of the booths were filled in anticipation of the larger numbers.
NorthWood's RedRegiment had marching band camp this past week in preparation for the upcoming marching band season. They made a special appearance at the Arts Festival on Firday evening, preceding the fireworks. A home Football scrimmage on Friday evening, pushed the parent's preview of the marching band show from Friday to Saturday evening. Then came the rain which pushed the preview show inside to the auditorium ... and then the power went out. But the show must go on! Operating with emergency lighting only, the parents and friends of the Red Regiment filed into the auditorium for the 6:30 pm show. They were not to be disappointed! The band shared a preview of music to be premiered at the football game next Friday, some of their parade show music from the summer season, and after some introductions were able to hear the music for the marching band season show, Godzilla eats Las Vegas.
