Miracles on Main and Market Streets

WOW! A great turnout tonight in downtown Nappanee tonight for the "Miracles on Main and Market Streets" parade. Led by the Red Regiment Band and numerous floats and other marchers, the crowd of hundreds seemed to enjoy the cold night air and an evening of fellowship for the larger community.

Following the parade, hundreds gathered in the depot plaza around blazing fire barrels for warmth, holding lighted candles or cups of hot coffee. The mayor read the Christmas Story and the crowd joined in the singing of "Silent Night" (even if the second verse was noisily interupted by a passing train). The Christmas Tree on the Plaza was lighted.

As Middle School Choir sang, persons visited the live nativity and visited, and children visited with Santa Claus and Blitzen ... while survivors of the October 18 tornado were presented with a new Christmas ornament - an angel to watch over all of us survivors!

A great evening out with our neighbors in downtown Nappanee!
