FEMA has again turned down the request for federal emergency assistance for Nappanee and the surrounding area from the October tornado. The FEMA letter to Governor Daniels is posted on line by WSBT-TV here. R. David Paulison in his letter says "the impact from this event is not of the severity and magnitude that warrants a major disaster declaration."
This is perhaps another reminder that FEMA itself is a major disaster. It makes one want to withhold a portion of one's federal income tax and send the money to the city of Nappanee.
